The Oak Hill Birth to Three program is part of the CT Birth to Three system whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of families and to meet the developmental and health-related needs of their infants and toddlers who have delays or disabilities.
Are you concerned about your child in any of the following five areas of development?
- Physical development, such as vision, hearing, movement and health
- Communication skills, such as pointing, understanding your words, expressing thoughts
- Adaptive or self-help skills, such as feeding and dressing
- Cognitive skills such as thinking, learning and reasoning
- Social emotional development, such as getting along with others, expressing feelings; developing relationships
If you are worried that your infant or toddler’s development is lagging behind other children her age, you don’t need to wait months and years for developmental milestones to be met. All referrals are received at the Child Development Infoline at 211 or 1 (800) 505-7000.
After an evaluation is completed with you as an important team member and your child is found eligible, members of our Oak Hill Birth to Three staff meet with you to develop a plan for your child and family.
Our staff members include services and supports from occupational therapists, physical therapists, special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, social workers, and other specialists as needed. Included in the plan as deemed appropriate are assistive technology consultation and evaluation and adaptive equipment recommendations.
Oak Hill staff members work directly with families and eligible children most often in their homes or day care settings. Birth to Three professionals coach you in ways to embed early intervention strategies into your daily routines. Helping families connect to resources in the community is an important piece of each individualized family service plan.
The Oak Hill Birth to Three program’s goal is to empower families to help their children with developmental delays or disabilities reach their potential.
