Maintaining and enhancing the professional development of staff who work with people with disabilities and raising the awareness of the community about living and working with people with disabilities.
Education for staff, communities and schools. Provides comprehensive new employee orientation and extensive staff retraining, Oak Hill also offers workshops to the community and schools on disabilities awareness and issues relating to the support of people with disabilities.
Comprehensive and on-going education for Oak Hill Staff
New and existing Oak Hill Staff are trained in the following:
- Signs and symptoms of illness, Medication Administration, Physical/Psychological Management Techniques (PMT), American Red Cross First Aid and Safety, American Red Cross CPR, Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance Techniques, Positive Behavioral Supports, Orientation and Mobility, Human Rights and the Prevention of Abuse, Workplace Safety; Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC); Person-Centered Thinking; Mealtime Guidelines; Respecting Diversity for Individuals with IDD; Sexual Harassment Prevention; Computer Skills; Health Management.
- Employees are able to self-enroll for optional training from the library of courses on the Relias Learning platform.
- Educational and skill assessments necessary to meet the requirements for nursing delegation

Professional Development Staff
Our staff includes highly qualified and dedicated people who ensure that classes are both educational and enjoyable. Comprehensive and on-going education provides direct care workers, managers and supervisors with the expertise needed to meet the educational, physical, emotional and psychological needs of people with multiple disabilities and to guarantee the safety of clients and staff.
